In a recent annual press conference, Porsche announced its plans for an upcoming range of electric cars. The biggest announcement at the conference was the arrival of the all-electric Cayenne. The Cayenne EV will be the fourth generation of its flagship SUV which is set to arrive by 2026. Before this, Macan EV is expected to launch in 2024 and the all-electric 718 is scheduled to be introduced by 2025.
The company further said that the upcoming generation of Cayenne will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture; the same platform will also be shared by the Macan EV. Although no technical details were revealed for the electric Cayenne. Since the electric Macan is said to come equipped with a 100 kWh battery, we expect that the Cayenne EV will offer a bigger battery pack than its sibling.
The German marque, Porsche will be selling its electric Cayenne alongside the current Cayenne ICE range. In addition, the whole range will be receiving major updates. The company says this will be the comprehensive update as it will include developed plug-in hybrids with all-electric ranges to provide improved performance on and off-road and long-distance comfort as well.
Apart from this, Porsche also shared their sales performance during the conference. As per the company, it registered 3,09,884 unit sales in 2022 which is a 3 percent growth from the previous year. The Cayenne was the bestseller among all as it solely registered 95,604 unit sales. For the Cayenne EV, the company is targeting to gain 80 percent sales by the year 2030.
Probably not for too long but the all-electric Cayenne will be called the flagship SUV from the brand once it hits the market. The company said that the new vehicle will offer automated driving functions and strong performance along with a whole new experience inside the car. In addition, the brand's expansion for the SUV is a clear strategy to make more profits in the future.
