Tata Avinya X luxury SUV arriving in 2027 Two new 7-seater electric SUVs to launch by 2027
The Indian electric vehicle market is shifting toward the “Big EV SUV” segment, which are big in size, feature-loaded, and long range and designed to replace premium diesel SUVs. While the Tata Sierra EV is the next big EV to hit Indian market, the roadmap for 2026 and 2027 reveals three heavyweights from Tata Motors and Mahindra that will define India’s premium electric landscape.
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in the next couple of months. However, the company will also introduce the Safari EV and the Avinya X premium electric SUV in the country by 2027. On the other hand, Mahindra has announced to launch the production version of the BE 07 EV concept.
Expected Launch: by Diwali 2026
Estimated Price: Rs 26 lakh - 32 lakh

The Tata Safari EV will be a direct challenger to the Mahindra XEV 9S. Built on the Gen 2 acti.ev+ architecture, the new electric SUV will share the battery specs and features with the Tata Harrier EV.
The electric Safari is expected to feature a 75 kWh battery pack with a dual-motor AWD setup. However, the lower-spec models could get 65 kWh battery pack with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The higher-spec model is expected to offer a range of up to 600km on a single charge. In terms of features, the SUV will get LEVEL 2+ ADAS, 540-degree surround-view camera, and a “Summon Mode.”
Expected Launch: 2027
Estimated Price: Rs 25 lakh - 35 lakh

Mahindra will launch its fourth Born-electric SUV based on the BE 07 concept in the country in 2027. It will be positioned as a sophisticated family SUV, sitting above the
BE 6 and XEV 9e.
While the BE 6 carries a SUV-Coupe styling, the Mahindra BE 07 will follow a conventional, boxy profile to maximize cabin space for 7 adults. It is expected to share the battery and powertrain with the XEV 9e, BE 6 and XEV 9S. The electric SUV is estimated to offer a realistic range of around 500 km on a single charge. It will also support 150 kW DC fast charging, which allows an 80% top up in around 30 mins.
Expected Launch: H1, 2027
Estimated Price: Rs 30 - 40 lakh
Tata Motors has officially announced to launch its luxury EV brand, the Avinya before the end of this financial year. It is expected that the company will first introduce an all-new electric SUV, which is rumoured to be based on the Tata Avinya X electric SUV concept that debuted at 2025 Delhi Auto Expo. This electric SUV will be sold through new premium dealership network under the AVINYA nameplate.
The electric SUV will be based on JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture, which will be heavily localised to achieve competitive pricing. It is likely to be packed with a large battery pack, around 90-100 kWh with dual-motor AWD setup.
