Tata Motors launched the Curvv EV today at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs. 17.49 lakh. While the brand has a couple of SUVs in its portfolio, Tata is foraying into the sports coupe SUV segment for the first time. The Curvv EV blends the toughness of an SUV with the elegance and sporty silhouette of a coupe. As expected, it was launched featuring a host of battery options with a range going all the way up to 600 kilometres. Curvv ICE is was also showcased at the event but prices for the same will be revealed on September 2.

Starting price of the Curvv EV with the 45 kWh battery pack will be Rs. 17.49 lakh, introductory ex-showroom. Curvv EV's larger 55 kWh cell pack will be available from the Accomplished variant starting at Rs. 19.25 lakh. The range-topping Empowered+ A trim to cost Rs. 21.99 lakh. Bookings open on August 12. Prices for the Curvv ICE will be announced on September 2.

Developed keeping in mind the current emission norms, Tata Curvv will debut an all new Kryojet 1.5-litre diesel engine with a best in class fuel economy of 22.4 kilometres per litre. Power and torque figures of this unit are 125 bhp and 225 Nm. It can be bought with both manual and dual clutch automatic transmissions.
The Curvv EV offers class leading 500 litres of boot space apart from a frunk at the front. Overall, there will be 35 storage spaces in the compact electric SUV.
Just like we have seen with other Tata SUVs, the Curvv EV will have five variants on offer:
Tata stated that the Curvv ICE will have three engines on offer - Two 1.2-litre turbo petrol engines and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The three engines can be had with a DCA transmission and will pack exhilarating performance on the tap. Like its EV sibling, it will boast Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera and JBL speaker setup. It will blend exhilarating performance, sophisticated technology and unparalleled safety, Tata claimed.
Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) has been confirmed on the Curvv EV. Out of the 20 on board, some features of the safety suite include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Curvv EV also offers six airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Programme, electronic parking brake and all-wheel disc brakes.
Curvv EV will be underpinned by Tata's most-powerful 123kW electric motor yet. This unit is capable of accelerating to 100 kilometres per hour from a standstill in 8.6 seconds. There will be multi-mode regenerative braking as well to make the most out of the battery
As anticipated earlier, Tata has announced an all-new charge point super-aggregator application for live status of over 9,000 chargers across the country. Some of the key partners in this initiative include Shell, Bharat Petroleum and Statiq.
Battery specifications for the Curvv EV are out. It will be powered by the largest battery packs in the segment of the sizes a 45 kWh pack with a claimed range of 502 km and a 55 kWh pack with a claimed range of 585 km. These will support a 150 km top up in 15 minutes. It goes from a 10 to 80% charge in 40 minutes with a 70 kW charger. V2L or Vehicle To Load also there.
After the Curvv EV, Tata Motors will launch multiple new electric vehicles in our market. The company will introduce the new Harrier EV in the first quarter of 2025. Moreover, the Safari SUV will also receive an electric derivative. Tata Sierra will return as an electric lifestyle SUV before the end of financial year 2026. Moreover, the Tata Avinya concept based models will start arriving from 2026 onwards.
As per multiple media reports, both the electric and ICE Curvv SUVs have been awarded five star safety ratings in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). We also expect the cars to offer a variety of active and passive safety features to further enhance the safety quotient.
There will be five colour options offered with the electric Curvv, whereas, there is no clarity on whether it will get dual-tone shades or not. They include Flame Red, Pristine White, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey and Virtual Sunrise. Out of the five, three colours have been taken from the Nexon EV.

The Curvv EV is the brand's fifth electric model, joining the likes of the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV and the Nexon EV. With the new electric SUV Coupe, Tata Motors will aim to maintain its dominance in the fast growing electric vehicle segment. In this segment, the electric SUV Coupe will directly rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the BYD Atto 3. However, its real challengers, including the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, and Mahindra BE.05 will arrive in 2025.
On the battery front, reports suggest it will get two battery packs - 40.5 kWh and 55 kWh. The top spec Curvv EV will boast a range of 600 kilometres on a single charge. Furthere, it will also support both AC and DC chraging. It remains to be seen whether the electric SUV gets an AWD setup on launch.
Tata Curvv EV has a sports coupe design with connected DRLs at the front and back. Major exterior elements include flared wheel arches, flush door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and panoramic sunroof. Inside, the EV is likely to get a four-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, ventilated seats, twin digital screens, automatic climate control, powered tailgate and driver's seat and wireless chraging.
The Charge Point Aggregator App will be a part of Tata's Connected Car platform and will help users to plan their trips and find the nearest charging stations on the move. It has partnered with over 15 charging point operators pan India to provide real-time update of over 13,000 charging points across India.
