Tata to launch Harrier EV by early 2025 Its petrol iteration will also arrive on the market Currently, Harrier is only offered with a diesel engine
Tata Motors is planning to bring petrol and electric versions of the Harrier SUV. Currently, the Tata Harrier is offered with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. Now, the automaker aims to boost sales by introducing the Harrier petrol and Harrier EV in early 2025.
According to the sources, the petrol-powered Harrier will feature an all-new 1.5-litre turbo direct injection engine. This unit is likely to deliver the maximum power of 167 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. This same engine option might also be offered in the upcoming Tata Curvv, slated to launch for this festive season.
The electric version of the Harrier SUV has been seen in its close-to-production form at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. Its production-ready model will be similar to the concept version. From the outside, it will feature a new blanked-off grille, a new LED light bar running across its width, a tweaked front bumper with angular creases, redesigned tail lamps, and black cladding. On the inside, it might receive a large touchscreen infotainment system, a touch panel for AC controls, a new twin-spoke steering wheel, and more.
Like Punch.ev, Harrier.ev will also be based on the brand's new Acti.EV platform. This platform supports multiple battery packs and 3 drivetrain setups; FWD, RWD, and 4WD. It will also have the V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging capabilities. Besides, the upcoming Harrier EV could get a 60 kWh battery pack with a range of approximately 500 km.
