Tata Motors recently introduced the New Nexon EV Max Dark Edition in India. Launched last year, the Nexon EV Max is the long-range version of the popular electric SUV. The sub-compact SUV offers cosmetic changes to the exterior while the interior witnesses feature upgrades. We take a closer look.
Nexon EV Max Dark Edition in line with the Tata Harrier and Safari Dark Editions offers the same exterior updates. The SUV features Midnight Black Colour along with Satin Grey accents around the front grille and windows. The front fog lamps and rear reflector inserts along with EV badges are finished in blue. The four-wheeler also offers 16-inch Charcoal Grey alloy wheels.
The interior upgrades on the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition are much more noticeable than the exterior. It provides Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that was recently introduced in the Safari and Harrier Red Dark Edition models. The system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as voice recognition in 6 different languages. Other key highlights include connected car tech, wireless charging, upgraded reverse camera, ambient lighting, a cooled glove box, auto climate control, an electric sunroof, and more. Like all Tata Dark Editions, the Nexon EV Max’s interior caters to an all-black theme, featuring black seats with contrasting blue stitching, #Dark stitched on the head restraints, and blue accents around the AC vents.
Nexon EV Max Dark Edition uses a 40.5 kWh battery pack that powers a single front-axle mounted electric motor. Combined, the power output stands at 141 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque. The electric SUV has an ARAI-claimed range of 453 kms. The Nexon EV Max is offered with either a 3.3 kW or a 7.2 kW charger as standard. The company states that the former fully charges the battery in around 15 hours, while the latter takes only 6.5 hours for the same. The Nexon EV Max also supports 50 kW fast charging, which can juice the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just 56 minutes.
Prices for the long range electric vehicle starts from Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the XZ+ Lux variant, going up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the XZ+ Lux trim with the 7.2 kW charger. The Nexon EV Max competes against the likes of recently launched Mahindra XUV400.
