Maruti Swift has undoubtedly impressed many customers with its new-generation model and became the best seller in the first month of its launch. However, according to the June sales report, Tata Punch has secured the first position, winning the tag of 'Best-Selling Car" in India, surpassing the new Swift which was the top-selling car in May 2024.
According to the June sales report 2024, the Punch secured 18,238 units while Swift marked 16,422 units of sales. In comparison to the sales report of May 2024, Swift collected a total sales of 19,393 units, against 18,949 units of Tata Punch.
This indicates Maruti Swift was a best seller in May as it sold 444 more units than the Tata Punch. But in June 2024, the Punch seems to beat the Swift hatchback by selling 1,816 more units, marking a significant growth compared to May 2024.
It is not the first time that Punch has gained the first position position in sales. In April 2024, the Punch was in the top position by recording 19,158 units and 17,547 units in March 2024.
Both Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Swift are popular models in the Indian market. The Swift has been in the market since 2005 while Punch was launched in 2021 that grabbed many eyeballs with its compact SUV design and range of new tech features.
However, Maruti astonished many Indian customers by launching the next-gen Swift with a new design, a variety of features, and a new Z-Series engine. It even became the best-selling car from the brand in the first month of its launch in May 2024.
Based on the latest sales report, Tata Punch seems to have flipped the game, becoming the top-selling car in the market.
The price point could be the reason that Tata Punch won the game as it is priced between Rs 6.12 lakh to Rs 9.84 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Maruti Swift price starts from Rs 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Punch SUV has also achieved a 5-star safety rating by the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP). This gives more confidence to any customer for buying the Punch.
