Sierra EV will be based on Tata's Gen2 EV platform Tata Avinya will be the premium all-electric range
Tata Motors is planning to launch a range of electric cars in the Indian market. Apart from Curvv EV and Harrier EV, Tata Motors has announced the launch of Sierra EV in India. It is expected to arrive by FY2026. The company is also expected to launch the first model from the premium Avinya range in FY2026.
The concept version of the Sierra EV was first showcased at Auto Expo 2020. Later its closer to production-ready version was presented at the Auto Expo 2023.
The Sierra EV will be based on the Tata's Gen 2 EV platform. It is also likely to use the Tata's Acti.EV architecture, same as Tata Punch EV and upcoming electric Harrier.
Design-wise, the electric Sierra will share similar features to the original Sierra. Its signature curved-over rear side windows, high-set bonnet, and squarish wheel arches will be reminiscent of the original Sierra from the 90s.
The Avinya range will be the premium all-electric brand that will bring a variety of cars and SUVs. The entire range will be based on the JLR's modular EMA platform that will be localised to keep the costs low.
