Maruti Dzire leads Marh 2026 sales Tata Punch, Tata Nexon dominate SUVs
With strong market demand and attractive discounts, most car manufactures registered significant growth in March 2026. Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the market, followed by Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India and Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
On the product front, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire secured the top spot with sales of 21,224 units, reflecting a strong 37% YoY growth. Tata Punch and Nexon emerged as the second and third best-selling cars in March, with sales of 20,977 units and 19,810 units, respectively.
The Hyundai Creta witnessed a marginal decline of 1% with 17,838 units sold against 18,059 units in the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Baleno registered total sales of 17,072 units and 16,392 units, respectively, registering YoY growth of 2% and 33% growth. Meanwhile, the Maruti Wagon R and Brezza saw declines of -1% and -3%, respectively.
The Maruti Fronx managed to secure its place in the top 10 with total sales of 15,540 units compared to 13,669 units, marking a 14% YoY growth. Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio N + Scorpio Classic) recorded sales of 14,578 units against 13,913 units, reflecting a 5% growth. The SUV lineup is set to receive a significant midlife update in the coming months.

The newly-launched Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet (with the addition of new AT variants) registered impressive YoY growth of 69% and 56%, respectively. The Toyota Hyryder also surprised recording a remarkable 93% YoY growth, with sales of 10,206 units against 5,286 units in March 2025.
