Indian auto manufacturers have released their sales numbers, and most of the brands have posted positive sales numbers. Majority of the sales come from SUVs, as the Tata Nexon becomes the top-selling car by beating the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Baleno and Hyundai Creta. Here is a list of top 10 selling SUVs in January 2026 -
The Tata Nexon and Nexon EV combined sales for January 2026 stood at 23,365 units as against 15,397 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 51.75 percent. The SUV manages to beat the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Brezza to retain its top spot.

The newly launched Punch facelift and Punch EV combined grabs the second position with 19,257 units dispatched to dealerships in January 2026, reporting a YoY growth of 18.64 percent. In the same month last year, Tata sold 16.231 units of the Punch micro SUV.
Despite rising competition and arrival of new SUVs, including Tata Sierra and new Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Creta retains its sales numbers and becomes the best-selling mid-sized SUV in January 2026. The company sold a total of 17,921 units last month compared to 18,522 units in January 2025, reporting a marginal YoY sales decline of 3.24 percent.
Maruti Brezza slips to 4th position with 17,486 units sold in January 2026 as against 14,747 units in the same month last year, registering a YoY sales growth of 18.57 percent. The 5th position is occupied by the popular Mahindra Scorpio nameplate. The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic combined sales in January 2026 was 15,542 units, that’s a marginal rise of 0.65 percent.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris entered the list with an impressive sales numbers of 15,240 units in January 2026. Maruti’s sub-4 meter crossover, the Fronx grabbed the 7th position with 13,353 vehicles sold last month compared to 15,192 units in January 2026, a decline of 12.11 percent.
The second Hyundai in our list is the new-gen Venue, which is placed at 8th position. Hyundai dispatched a total of 12,413 units of the Venue in January 2026 as against 11,106 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 11.77 percent.
The 9th and 10th positions are occupied by Mahindra Bolero and Kia Sonet, respectively. Mahindra dispatched 11,841 units of the Bolero in January 2026, and posted a YoY sales growth of 36.39 percent. The Kia Sonet posted an impressive sales growth of 52.88 percent with 10,998 units sold in January 2026.
