SUVs are in high demand, which is evident from the sales data of the previous financial year that's FY25. According to the official data, the Tata Punch was the best-selling SUV in the last financial year. It manages to beat the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Brezza and the Maruti Fronx to grab the top position.
In fact, the top-4 SUVs are all front-wheel-drive models. The Mahindra Scorpio is at the fifth position. It is the only model to be based on the ladder-frame chassis with rear-wheel-drive and 4x4 drivetrain options.

- Tata Motors sold a total of 1,96,572 units of the Tata Punch micro SUV in the last financial year as against 169,844 units in FY24, reporting a YoY sales growth of 15.74%.
- Hyundai Creta is at second position with a total sales of 1,94,871 units in FY25, achieving an impressive double digit year-on-year sales growth of 19.72 percent. In the previous financial year, the company sold a total of 1,62,773 units.
- Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 189,163 units of the Brezza in FY25, which makes it the third best-selling SUV in the country. The SUV has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 11.34%. In the FY24, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,69,897 units.
- Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,66,216 units in FY25 as against 1,34,735 units in the FY24, reporting a YoY sales growth of 23.36 per cent.
- The Mahindra Scorpio nameplate is hugely popular in the country. The homegrown UV maker had sold a total of 1,64,842 units of the Scorpio in FY25 as against 1,41,462 units in FY24, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 16.53 percent.
