Hyundai Motors is gearing up to introduce the New Exter in India by mid 2023. It will be the latest and smallest addition to the brand’s SUV lineup. Now, ahead of its launch, spy shots of the vehicle have been leaked online giving us an idea of what the upcoming model will look like. Let us take a closer look.
The leaked images are from South Korea, where the Exter is currently undergoing the final phase of testing. The uncamouflaged model gives us the clearest look at the micro-SUVs design till date.
Up front, the Exter has an upright nose with H-pattern LED DRLs connected by a thin black strip. The square headlights and the wide front grille sits below it while the bumper gets a black skid plate. Moving to the sides, the doors seem to be quite large to aid ingress and egress, with the glasshouse kept relatively simple. The model in the spy shot also features blacked-out A- and B- pillars for a floating roof effect. Plus there are roof rails, black body cladding on the wheel arches, and multi-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the tailgate has a flat design with an integrated spoiler while the taillights are connected by a black band. Overall, the micro-SUV has an eye-catching design that makes it look larger than it actually is.

The Exter will be the first SUV from Hyundai to be offered with a petrol powertrain option only. At launch, it will get a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor choice that will make 83 bhp with 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a manual and an AMT gearbox.
The company may introduce a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine model and a CNG variant sometime in the near future.
