Toyota Kirloskar Motors is gearing up to introduce the CNG iteration of its premium hatchback, the Glanza. The facelifted version of this Toyota car model was launched in March this year and now the leaked details suggest the potential launch of the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza CNG twins before the end of the year. The Toyota Glanza price in India is Rs 6.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in 4 trims, E, S, G and V.
Going by leaked details, the Glanza CNG will be available in 3 variants, namely S, G and V. The vehicle will continue to come powered by familiar 1.2 litre K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine that now produces a maximum power output of 76 bhp. Unlike the petrol model, the Glanza CNG will be available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox and will return a claimed fuel efficiency of around 25 km/kg.
Other than the changes done to accommodate the new fuel system, the hatchback will continue to be the same with a gross weight of 1450 kg. It will continue to offer the same set of features such as 9-inch free-standing SmartPlay infotainment system, a Heads-up display, 360-degree parking camera, connected car tech and six airbags amongst others.
The Glanza CNG is expected to command a premium of around Rs 75,000 over the conventional petrol-powered hatch. Toyota will likely launch the car by the end of 2022, while the Baleno CNG can also debut around the same timeline.
