German luxury maker Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the new E-Class Long Wheelbase or LWB in the Indian market on October 9, 2024. Set to rival the BMW 5-Series LWB, the new model will replace the outgoing model that went on sale in 2017. Deliveries for the new E-Class LWB will begin towards the end of next month, before Diwali.
Compared to the previous generation model, the new-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class is 13mm taller, and 14mm longer. The wheelbase is increased by 15mm resulting in a more spacious cabin and a bigger boot space.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class looks different from its previous model, featuring an all-new front design. The front is inspired from modern Mercedes EQ models. The new model features a large chrome grille that houses an oversized 3D logo and gloss black panel surrounding the grille. The sedan gets new S-Class-type flush door handles, and 18-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the new Mercedes E-Class gets new LED tail-lamps with a tri-arrow pattern. The company has added chrome treatment on the front and rear bumpers along with side profile.
Inside the cabin, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets the signature Superscreen layout, which comprises a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch co-occupant touchscreen. Adding to it, there is an additional digital instrument console. It is fitted with a Burmester's 4D surround sound system. The sedan won't have ventilated seats, but the driver's seat get a memory function. The seat's backrest can recline between 26 and 36 degrees, which is more than the outgoing model.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available with two turbo engines including a 204hp, 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 197hp, 2.0-litre turbo diesel. Both engines are benefited with a 48V mild hybrid system that adds another 23hp and 205Nm of torque. A 9-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox is offered as standard.
