3 Strong Hybrid SUVs Launching This Year - Honda ZR-V to MG Starlight 560

As India’s CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) norms tighten, car manufacturers are pivoting to Strong Hybrids to deliver diesel-like fuel efficiency without the range anxiety of an electric vehicle. Here is a list of top 3 strong hybrid SUVs, including the Honda ZR-V, Jetour T2 and MG Starlight 560, which will be launched in the country in 2026 - 

Honda ZR-V Hybrid

Honda is planning to introduce the ZR-V hybrid as CBU model in the Indian market. The company has already showcased the SUV to its dealers. It measures 4,568mm in length, 1,840mm in width and 1,620mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2665mm. The SUV carries the brand’s familiar design language, featuring an oval front grille with vertical slats, LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a slopping bonnet, 19-inch alloys, LED tail-lights and others. 

Inside the cabin, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, a Bose sound system and others. It is powered by a strong hybrid engine comprising a 2.0L petrol engine and two electric motors and a small battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 184bhp and 315Nm, respectively. This SUV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 7.8 seconds, and offers a fuel efficiency of around 22.2kmpl. 

Jetour T2

JSW Motors will begin its operations as independent automotive brand by introducing a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV based on the global Jetour T2 in India. Scheduled to be launched by Diwali 2026, the new SUV will carry a different nameplate for the Indian market. This plug-in hybrid SUV will be assembled at the brand’s upcoming Greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. It measures 4785mm in length, 2006mm in width and 1875mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2800mm.

The Jetour T2 is packed with a 1.5L Turbo-Petrol i-DM Plug-in Hybrid powertrain, which gets a 26.7kWh battery pack and a dual-motor AWD setup. Paired to a 3-speed DHT, the engine offers a combined power and torque output of 381bhp and 610Nm, respectively. The battery pack offers offers an NEDC-certified all-electric range of 139km

MG Starlight 560

JSW MG Motor India will enter the plug-in hybrid segment by March 2027, and its first PHEV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560. The SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. The PHEV gets a 106hp, 1.5L NA petrol engine, a 20.5kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The combined power and torque output stands at 197hp and 230Nm, respectively. 

The Starlight 560 is claimed to offer an electric-only range of up to 100-125km (CLTC - China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) and a combined driving range of 1100km. The Starlight 560 can achieve 0-100kmph in 9.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 170kmph.
