Tata's latest model in the mid-sized SUV category is the Tata Curvv, which brings in fresh design and segment-leading features. The SUV Coupe has been receiving positive responses from buyers, as its waiting period has already crossed 6-8 weeks. Not just petrol and diesel, the Tata Curvv also gets an electric derivative.
Tata offers the Curvv ICE with two powertrain options and two transmission choices. Engine options include a 123bhp, 1.2L Direct Injection Turbo Petrol, a 118bhp, 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 118bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel. All three engines are offered with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCA (Dual-Clutch Automatic).
In terms of features, the SUV Coupe offers an LED lighting system, sequential turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, voice-assisted panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a JBL sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, wireless smartphone charger and others.
The SUV Coupe also gets a powered tailgate with gesture control, illuminated cooled glovebox, ventilated front seats, rear seat recline and 6-way powered driver seat. The Tata Curvv SUV Coupe also comes with an advanced driver assistance system with 20 key features. Here are 5 SUVs in the mid-sized category that you can choose over Tata Curvv.
USP - Strong Hybrid Engine, High Mileage, Spacious Cabin
If you are looking for a reliable product, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara or Toyota Hyryder are the best options for you. Both models are based on Suzuki's Global-C platform, which also underpins the Brezza. The SUV's biggest USP is its hybrid powertrain, which is sourced from Toyota. The Grand Vitara is currently the second-largest-selling model in its category. In terms of features, the SUV gets a panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, ventilated front seats and more. It gets a 360-degree surround view camera, six airbags, ESP with Hill Hold Assist, ABS with EBD, and TPMS.
Both models are available with two engine options - a 1.5-litre petrol with mild hybrid and a 1.5-litre petrol with strong hybrid. While the former is good for 102hp and 137Nm, the hybrid setup offers 91hp and 122Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and an e-CVT unit.
USP - most powerful model, diesel offers high mileage, premium interior
Customers can also opt for the country's best-selling SUV, the Hyundai Creta, which received a major update earlier this year. The SUV is offered with multiple engine options including a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo diesel and a 1.5L turbo petrol. A six-speed manual gearbox is available as standard, while the NA petrol gets a CVT. The Turbocharged petrol engine is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The diesel manual is claimed to return 21.8kmpl, while the turbo petrol version delivers 18.4kmpl
As standard, the SUV gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, vehicle stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and rear disc brakes. It also gets Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. Customers looking to buy a performance-oriented model can opt for the Creta N Line.
Kia Seltos is another SUV customers can buy. It shares the platform, features and engine options with the Creta. The Seltos has a more aggressive design compared to the Creta SUV. It also offers iMT and diesel automatic gearbox options.
USP - Japanese reliability, Segment-leading Interior Space, No-Nonsense Design
If you are looking to drive home a spacious family SUV, which offers reliability and a spacious cabin for adults, the Honda Elevate is the best option for you. The SUV gets the tried & tested 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the City sedan. It is available with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine is known for its refinement, reliability and great performance. The SUV is fairly equipped with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ADAS tech, six airbags, ESP, automatic climate control and others.
USP - Driver's Car
The Skoda Kushaq or VW Taigun are for those looking at a mid-sized SUV that offers spirited performance. Both models are available with 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. Customers looking at a more performance-oriented model, the Kushaq and Taigun are the best choice for them.
