India's two top-selling sedans, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze, are set to enter new generation in the next 3-4 months. Both models were speculated to be launched during festive season. However, the launch of the new-gen Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze delayed by few months. Maruti Suzuki will have a competitive advantage over Honda, as the new Dzire will arrive before its direct rival Amaze.
We informed you earlier that the all-new Maruti Dzire will arrive in our market in November, 2024. The sedan could be launched on November 4, 2024; however, MSIL is yet to make an official announcement on the same. On the other hand, the launch of new Honda Amaze is pushed to early next year - most probably in January 2025. Production of the new Amaze is expected to begin in December.
The new-gen Dzire will be based on the same HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Swift. It will retain the overall shape; however, styling elements are all new. It gets a newly styled front fascia, which also looks different from its hatchback sibling. The sedan gets a much larger front grille, newly styled LED headlamps and sharper bumper. Other design changes include newly styled alloy wheels, new tailgate, new LED tail-lights and a dual-tone lower rear bumper.
The all-new Dzire will also come with segment-first factory-fitted electric sunroof. The cabin layout is similar to the new Swift; however, it has lighter dual-tone black and beige interior scheme instead of all-black in the hatchback. Some of the features include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and others. The sedan could also receive a 360-degree surround view camera. As standard, the new Dzire will have 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, rear parking sensors and 3-point seatbelts.
It will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-series petrol engine that is good for 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. The sedan will also receive a CNG option. In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 69bhp and 102Nm, respectively.
Honda has started testing the new-gen Amaze sedan, which reveals some of its key design. The overall styling will be inspired from the current generation Honda Accord. It will be based on the City platform, which also underpins the new Elevate. As a reminder, the current model is built on the old Brio's platform. The City platform will be significantly modified to accommodate a much smaller wheelbase.
The new Honda Amaze sedan is likely to share the interior with the Elevate sedan. It will have a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The sedan to get a semi-digital instrument console, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, fabric upholstery and others. The top-model could also receive leatherette upholstery, ADAS tech, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
The new Amaze will receive the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 90bhp and a peak torque of 110Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
