In May 2024, Maruti Suzuki launched its fourth-gen Swift hatchback in India with a fresh design, a range of features, and a new engine option. Now, Suzuki has also introduced the new Swift in Australia. But, the biggest highlight is that the Australia-spec Swift receives a hybrid version which is not available in the India-spec hatchback. Let's dig more.
The Australia-spec Swift takes power from the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder 12V mild-hybrid petrol engine. It is mated with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed CVT automatic with paddle shifters. The overall power output of this engine is tuned as 81 bhp and 112 Nm of torque.
Apart from the hybrid engine, the Australian Swift also gets a radar-based ADAS suite. These include features like Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Collision Mitigation.
Furthermore, the hatchback is loaded with more features than the Indian Swift. In Australia, it gets heated front seats, ORVMs, rear fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels for the top-spec models, and 15-inch for the lower variants. Besides, it is offered with a dual-tone black and white interior theme while the India-spec Swift has an all-black theme with silver accents.
The Australia-spec Swift hybrid costs AUD 24,490 to AUD 30,135. If we convert it into Indian rupees, it is Rs 13.51 lakh to Rs 16.62 lakh. This clearly shows that the India-spec Swift is more affordable than the global model as it is priced between Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh (ex-showroom). However, we cannot deny the fact that the Australian Swift is offered with a hybrid engine and a range of new features that are missing in the Indian version.
