The homegrown automaker, Mahindra is testing the production version of the Vision S concept on the Indian roads. Rumoured to be the smallest member of the Scorpio family, the production-spec Vision S is expected to be revealed before the end of FY27, by March 2027. Based on the spy images, digital artist, Shoeb R. Kapania, has created renders of the Mahindra Vision S production-spec model.
The rendering shows a boxy shaped SUV with design elements shared with Mahindra Thar and Scorpio-N. It features a flat clamshell bonnet with an upright nose, a 7-slat Mahindra grille and circular-shaped headlamps. The lower bumper houses round headlamps, large scuff plate and carved-out body cladding.

The side profile has squared-off wheel arches, large glass areas and smooth surfaces. At the back, the rugged SUV has a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, fenders-mounted tail-lights and rugged lower bumper.
The Mahindra Vision S concept based compact SUV will mark the debut of the brand’s NU.IQ modular platform, which is compatible with ICE, hybrid and EV powertrains. The architecture is designed to accommodate vehicles measuring between 3990mm and 4320mm. It is expected that the baby Scorpio could measure around 4 meters in length.
The spy images reveal that the cabin layout will be similar to the Vision S compact SUV. It will have a newly designed cabin, featuring dual digital screens separated from each other by an AC vent. The SUV gets physical buttons for multiple functions for the centre console. There is a three-spoke round steering wheel with haptic controls for the steering mounted functions.
In terms of features, the Vision S based SUV is likely to get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an automatic AC, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, LEVEL-2 ADAS, a 360-degree surround view camera and others.
The baby Scorpio will initially arrive with petrol and diesel engine choices. It is expected to get a 1.2L, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel. Mahindra has confirmed that the new SUVs will also receive hybrid and electric powertrains.
