We reported earlier that Renault's sub-brand, Dacia, is working on a new entry-level SUV. The new small SUV will replace the ageing Dacia Stepway crossover supermini in international markets. A new media report claims that the new entry-level SUV is expected to make its debut in 2027.
The new model is expected to be based on Dacia Duster's CMF-B platform. It could be the most affordable B-segment SUV in the European markets. The 3rd gen Duster is 4,343mm long, while the baby Duster is expected to measure around 4.1 meters in length. Dacia has already confirmed that the 3-row Bigster SUV will be launched in the European markets in 2025.
The report claims that the Baby Duster will share styling cues from the Manifesto concept and the Sandrider (2025 Dakar Rally contender). The styling will be toned down heavily, as Dacia is likely to offer a more conventional B-SUV stance instead of off-roaders proportions.
The new entry-level SUV will offer more interior space than the Sandero Stepway. It will come with a higher ground clearance and black plastic cladding around the bodywork. The cabin will offer practicality, as it will have a YouClip mounting system that allows easy customisation. It is likely to share the interior components from the Dacia lineup.
The new baby Duster is most likely to be based on Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B modular architecture that also underpins the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Logan and Duster. The same architecture will also be used to develop the Bigster SUV.
It is likely to be offered with ICE, LPG, mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains, which is the same strategy as the new Duster. These new engines are efficient and offer good performance. The company could also introduce an electric derivative of the small SUV. Dacia has confirmed that the next-gen Sandero electric version will be launched in 2028.
