October proved to be a good month for the Indian automotive industry, thanks to the festive season and high demand due to substantial discounts and offers. Here is the car manufacturer-wise sales number for the month of October 2024.
India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), registered total sales of 206,434 units, including 163,130 units for the domestic market, 10,136 units for other OEMs, and 33,168 units for exports. It’s the highest-ever monthly sales recorded by the Indo-Japanese automaker.
Maruti Suzuki recorded a MoM (month-on-month) sales growth of 4 percent and a 20 percent YoY (year-on-year) increase. However, MSI’s total domestic PV sales stood at 159,591 units in October 2024, declining 5 percent from 168,047 units in the corresponding month last year. The OEM’s SUV sales figures surged to 70,644 units from 59,147 units in October 2023.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) managed to sell 70,078 units, comprising 55,568 units in the domestic market and 14,510 units in exports. The domestic and export YoY sales increased by 1 percent and 7 percent, respectively. The South Korean automaker recorded its third-highest domestic and total monthly sales in October 2024. Tarun Garg, Director and Chief Operating Officer at HMIL, revealed that the company registered its highest-ever monthly SUV sales of 37,902 units, including record sales of the Hyundai Creta at 17,497 units.
Tata Motors’ domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 48,131 units in October 2024, as opposed to 48,337 units in October 2023. In fact, the EV YoY sales declined by 2 percent. Mahindra & Mahindra announced that its monthly sales in October were 96,648 units, registering a YoY sales growth of 25 percent. The indigenous automaker managed to sell 54,504 units in the domestic market and 42,144 units in exports.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a YoY sales increase of 41 percent with total sales of 30,845 units in October 2024. The Japanese automaker retailed 28,138 units in the domestic market and 2,707 units in exports. Kia India also witnessed strong festive sales with total deliveries of 28,545 units, compared to 21,941 units in October 2023, accounting for a YoY sales increase of 30 percent. JSW MG Motor India performed well with a total sales volume of 7,045 units, registering a YoY growth of 31 percent.
