Citroen C3X India Launch in 2024

Citroen is believed to be developing an all-new crossover sedan for the Indian market. Likely to be called the C3X, it will be the French automaker’s third brand-new offering. As per the latest media reports, it will be launched around the middle of 2024. We take a closer look.

Citroen C3X: What is it?

The C3X will be the third All-New Citroen model for India, following the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross. Like the latter two, the new model’s USP will be its unique and innovative design. Reports suggest that while the C3X will compete in the sedan segment, its SUV-like tall ground clearance will make it stand out from the rest of the competition.

In terms of design, it will share similar styling cues with the C3 Aircross like the split headlights, slim front grille, rugged plastic body cladding all around, and large alloy wheels. The biggest change will be to the sides and the rear profile with a sharply raked roofline leading to a notchback-type boot lid. One can also expect the presence of full-width LED taillights and a spoiler.

Citroen will use heavy localisation of parts to keep costs down for the new C3X. The upcoming crossover sedan is also likely to share components with the other C3 models. Expect the four-wheeler to have the same dashboard design and seats as the C3 Aircross. It is expected to provide features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a full-digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, and more.

Citroen C3X: Platform and Powertrain Details

The upcoming C3X will be based on Citroen’s CMP platform which already underpins the C3 Aircross and C3 hatchbacks. In terms of powertrains, expect the new crossover sedan to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor making 110 bhp of power with 190 Nm of peak torque.

The French automaker is believed to be working on a pure electric model of the same which is likely to be called eC3X. We expect this particular version to be launched a few months later after the introduction of the ICE-powered model. It will utilize a 29.2 kWh battery pack powering a front-axle-mounted electric motor.
