Dacia Spring EV - New Renault Kwid EV Arrives In India

We informed you earlier that Renault is planning to introduce an entry-level electric hatchback in the Indian market. It is reportedly to be based on the global-spec Dacia Spring EV, which debuted in February this year. Interestingly, the new Spring EV has been spotted for the first time in India.

It is basically the next-gen Renault Kwid EV, which could arrive in our market sometime in 2026-27. Renault could have imported this model for testing and Research & Development (R&D) purposes, which would be helpful to make an India-specific electric car.

The new Dacia Spring EV was snapped at a parking lot in Chennai. The spotted model was heavily camouflaged, but the Dacia badge and headlamp unit clearly visible. It gets split headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights on top and main headlamp unit placed on the lower bumper.

The overall styling of the EV hatchback appears identical to the Kwid hatchback. The rear is also heavily covered in thick cloth, but it reveals the roof-integrated spoiler, wraparound tail-lights with black inserts and others. There is plastic cladding that runs across the body to give it a rugged profile.

The cabin spy shot reveals that the Spring EV has a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a free-standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, round-shaped air-con vents on either side and centre AC vents below the infotainment unit. In the international markets, the electric hatchback gets a digital instrument panel.

The new Dacia Spring EV is offered with two electric motor options - 44bhp and 64bhp. It is packed with a 26.8kWh battery pack. The Spring EV is claimed to offer an impressive range of 220km on a single charge. It also supports a 30kW DC fast charging

In the global market, the Dacia Spring EV comes with two electric motor options: 44 BHP and 64 BHP, both powered by a 26.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 220 km. The EV is capable of fast charging via a 30 kW DC charger.
