Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the Fronx facelift with a hybrid engine by the end of 2025. This will be the first car from Maruti to use its own hybrid technology. The new system is made in India and promises better fuel efficiency at a lower cost. The Fronx hybrid has already been seen testing, showing a ‘Hybrid’ badge on the back.
Here is what we know so far about the Maruti Fronx Hybrid:
Unlike Maruti’s existing hybrid models that use Toyota’s system, the new strong hybrid engine is entirely developed by Maruti. It will be a series hybrid setup, powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-series engine (Z12E), also found in the new Swift. This engine will act as a generator to recharge the battery, while an electric motor will power the wheels—making it highly fuel-efficient.
The hybrid system is expected to deliver an impressive fuel economy of over 30 kmpl, possibly even exceeding 35 kmpl under ideal conditions. The battery pack will be around 1.5-2kWh, which helps keep costs low while offering a real-world efficiency boost.
The 2025 Maruti Fronx facelift will also become the first Maruti model to feature ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Though limited to Level 1 ADAS, it will include essential features such as:
Lane Keep Assist
Lane Departure Warning
Forward Collision Warning
Lane Following Assist
High Beam Assist
Vehicle Departure Alert
This puts the Fronx in line with rivals like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, which also offer Level 1 ADAS features.
Maruti Suzuki plans to roll out this new hybrid powertrain across its popular mass-market models including the Brezza, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire. The company is focusing on making eco-friendly cars with better mileage that don’t cost too much. Along with hybrids, Maruti will also launch its first electric car, the e-Vitara, in March 2025
The upcoming Maruti Fronx Hybrid will offer much better fuel efficiency compared to the regular petrol version, but it will also come at a higher price. The hybrid variant is expected to cost around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh more than the current model. For reference, the existing Fronx is priced between Rs 7.51 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom).
