The Creta EV will use a 45kWh Lithium-ion battery MG ZS EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX will be its rivals Likely to be available in India by 2025
The automotive industry is shifting towards electric cars at a global level and India is also getting a bunch of them. Currently, Hyundai Cars is working on a new electric version of its popular SUV, the Creta. People have seen test mules of this electric SUV recently. The company is planning to showcase the production form of the SUV to the world in the second half of 2024 and it should be available for purchase in India in early 2025. A recent online report has given some important information about the electric system that will power the Hyundai Creta EV. Let's dive in!
According to the media reports, the upcoming Creta EV is likely to use a 45kWh Lithium-ion battery, which is a bit smaller than what its main competitors use. If we talk about the MG ZS EV, it uses one larger 50.3kWh battery while the Maruti Suzuki eVX is likely to get two battery choices; an entry-level 48kWh unit and a high-end 60kWh variant.
Furthermore, the report reveals that the Creta EV will receive the same electric motor as the latest Kona EV, an entry-level model available on sale overseas. This means the Creta EV will have one motor that powers the front wheels, providing 136 bhp and 255 Nm of torque.
As for the platform, the Hyundai Creta EV is likely to use the same platform as its regular, non-electric version. This means it will be built on the same architecture as the Kia Seltos, which might also have an electric version at some point.
