Hyundai India preparing major growth with factory and EV expansion Company plans 26 new products and Rs 45,000 crore investment Production capacity to cross 10 lakh units by 2028
Hyundai Motor India is gearing up for a major expansion in the country with new factory plans, fresh EV investments, and a long list of upcoming products.
Over the years, Hyundai has become one of India’s biggest carmakers, with total sales of 13.5 million vehicles. This includes 9.6 million units sold in India and 3.9 million exports to global markets.
Now, the company is looking ahead with a stronger focus on manufacturing, electric mobility, and future-ready technologies.

Hyundai’s India manufacturing journey began with its Chennai plant in 1998, which later became one of the brand’s important global production hubs.
In 2025, Hyundai also started operations at its Talegaon plant near Pune, giving the company a major boost in production capacity.
Together, the Chennai and Talegaon facilities currently have a combined annual production capacity of 9.94 lakh units. Hyundai plans to increase this further to 10.74 lakh units by 2028.
The company also says its India operations now have around 82 percent localisation, helping strengthen the local supply chain and reduce dependence on imports.
Hyundai is also stepping up its EV plans for the Indian market. The company has already started expanding its electric vehicle lineup and is expected to introduce more EVs over the next few years.
As part of its long-term strategy, Hyundai has announced a massive Rs 45,000 crore investment plan between FY2026 and FY2030. This investment will go towards manufacturing expansion, electrification, and future mobility technologies.
The company is also expected to focus on battery localisation and improving EV infrastructure in India.

Hyundai has confirmed plans to introduce 26 new products and variants by FY2030. These are expected to include SUVs, EVs, facelifts, and updated versions of existing models.
The company wants to strengthen its presence across different segments while also expanding its premium and electric vehicle portfolio.
This aggressive product strategy shows Hyundai’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Hyundai continues to be India’s largest cumulative passenger vehicle exporter, with vehicles being shipped to nearly 150 countries around the world.
Important export markets include Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. Models like the Verna, Grand i10 Nios, and Aura continue to contribute strongly to export numbers.
Exports remain an important part of Hyundai’s India business and future plans.
Hyundai says all of its plants and offices in India now run on 100 percent renewable energy under the RE100 initiative. The company has also completed several energy efficiency projects over the past few years.
On the sales side, Hyundai currently has more than 1,500 sales outlets across 1,100+ cities in India, along with a wide after-sales service network.
