Maruti Suzuki, India's number 1 car manufacturer, has commenced the exports of the Fronx crossover to Japan. The new Fronx will be sold under Suzuki Motor Corporation in the brand's home market. After the Baleno, first exported in 2026, the Fronx is the second vehicle from Maruti Suzuki to be shipped to Japan.
It is expected that the new Suzuki Fronx will be launched in Japan sometime within Autumn 2024. This compact crossover is currently manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat production facility. The company has exported the first batch (1600 units of Fronx) from Gujarat's Pipavav port.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has received a positive response from buyers in India. It is sold through NEXA premium dealership network and sits below the Brezza in terms of pricing. This crossover has unique styling elements, sharper profile, spacious cabin and a decent performance with Suzuki's 1.0L Boosterjet Turbo petrol engine. The India-spec model is also available with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “I am proud to share that our ‘Made-in-India’ Fronx will soon be seen on the roads in Japan. Japan is one of the most quality conscious and advanced automobile markets in the world. Our export to Japan is a testament of Maruti Suzuki’s capability to manufacture world-class vehicles that exemplify cutting-edge technology, exceptional performance, internationally recognized safety, and quality standards. It underscores our strong commitment to excellence. The Fronx embodies the best of engineering, design finesse and is a beacon of Indian auto manufacturing excellence. I am confident that it will be received well by Japanese customers.”
The India-spec Fronx crossover comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, a multi-functional steering wheel, LED lighting system, climate control, cruise control, Heads-Up Display and others. For safety and security, the crossover gets six airbags, traction control system (TCS), electronic stability program (ESP), ABS with EBD and others.
The India-spec Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available with two engine options - a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol.
