Is the 2026 Tata Punch EV Becoming a Baby Nexon EV?

Tata Motors seems to be giving the 2026 Punch EV facelift a clear upgrade in character. With several features and design cues borrowed from the Nexon EV, the updated Punch EV is now being positioned as a more premium electric SUV, almost like a mini Nexon EV. The facelift is scheduled to launch on February 20, 2026.

Bigger Screen and More Premium Features

One of the biggest upgrades expected on the Punch EV facelift is a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, similar to what we see on the Nexon EV. This replaces the smaller unit on the current model. The cabin is also likely to get the two-spoke illuminated steering wheel and touch-based ClimaTouch AC controls, both borrowed from Tata’s higher EVs.

On the safety side, Tata may introduce Level 2 ADAS, a feature usually seen in more expensive electric SUVs. Other comfort features like ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and wireless charging are also expected to continue, making the Punch EV feel much more upmarket.

Exterior Design Feels More Like a Nexon EV

The Punch EV facelift also moves closer to Tata’s latest EV design language. The front now gets a clean, closed-off grille, giving it a sharper and more mature look. Tata has also added new aero-optimised alloy wheels, inspired by the Nexon EV, to improve efficiency and style.

At the rear, the Punch EV is expected to feature connected LED tail-lamps, similar to what we’ve seen on the updated ICE Punch and the Nexon EV, helping it blend in with Tata’s newer models.

Same EV Platform, Practical Setup

Under the skin, the Punch EV facelift continues to use Tata’s acti.ev platform. This dedicated electric platform allows features like a flat rear floor and a frunk (front boot), which are becoming common across Tata’s EV lineup.

Battery options are expected to remain the same, with a 25 kWh Medium Range and a 35 kWh Long Range version. The larger battery is claimed to offer a range of up to 421 km, making it suitable for both city driving and longer trips.

Punch EV Is Growing Up

With these updates, Tata is clearly making the Punch EV feel more upmarket. By adding Nexon EV-like features and design touches, the Punch EV now sits closer to the Nexon EV than ever before. For buyers looking for a compact but well-equipped electric SUV, the facelifted Punch EV could be a strong option.
