July 15, 2025, is shaping up to be a big day for India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. Three major events are lined up — Tesla to open its first showroom, Kia to launch its Carens Clavis EV, and VinFast to start bookings for its new electric SUVs.

American EV giant Tesla will officially open its first showroom in India on July 15, located in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. This will act as a Tesla Experience Centre, where potential buyers can explore Tesla’s lineup and technology.
To support its entry, Tesla has already imported nearly $1 million worth of cars, including the popular Model Y, and related accessories. Despite India’s 70% import duty on EVs, the brand is moving forward with its premium car lineup.
Tesla is also recruiting aggressively in India. Positions include sales staff, store managers, service engineers, and roles linked to its Autopilot development, such as vehicle operators and supply chain engineers.
Kia will enter the mass-market EV segment with the launch of the Carens Clavis EV on July 15. The electric MPV will come with two battery pack options:
- 42 kWh with an estimated range of 390–400 km
- 51.4 kWh offering up to 490 km range
Power output will vary between 135 hp and 171 hp, depending on the variant.
To support its EV plans, Kia has launched the K-Charge platform, giving users access to over 11,000 charging points via the MyKia app. The app also includes an EV route planner, real-time slot availability, and easy payment options. Kia’s fast-charging network spans over 250 workshops and 100+ dealerships.
The Carens Clavis EV is expected to be priced competitively, targeting families looking for a practical and affordable 7-seater EV.
Also on July 15, Vietnamese EV maker VinFast will begin pre-bookings for its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. The company is setting up 35 dealerships across India in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune.
Here’s what to know:
- VF 6: Subcompact EV SUV with 201 bhp, a 59.6 kWh battery, and up to 440 km range
- VF 7: Larger SUV with a 75.3 kWh battery and 450+ km range
These EVs will compete with models like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and BYD Atto 3. VinFast has already partnered with 13 dealer groups to support sales and service nationwide.
