Mahindra is working on a new version of its popular SUV, the XUV700. However, this update could come with a fresh name – the Mahindra XUV 7XO. The company has already trademarked the "7XO" name, which strongly hints that this could be the final name for the facelifted model. The launch of the XUV700 facelift is expected to take place in 2026, and the SUV is likely to bring a host of design upgrades and new features.
The biggest changes in the Mahindra XUV 700 facelift will likely appear at the front. The new design is expected to take inspiration from Mahindra’s latest electric SUV concepts like the XUV.e9 and XUV.e7. Spy shots reveal a new front grille with slanted vertical slats that give it a more modern look. The lower grille design could also be different from the current model.
Interestingly, the test mule did not have any visible fog lamps, which suggests either a design change or clever camouflage. The round headlights seen on the test vehicle are likely temporary units borrowed from the Thar Roxx, and the final production version is expected to feature more premium lighting elements.
While the front gets noticeable updates, the side and rear sections appear mostly unchanged. The overall profile, including the alloy wheels and tail lamps, look very similar to the current XUV700. It remains to be seen whether Mahindra updates these areas in future test models or chooses to retain them to keep costs in check. Either way, the SUV continues to carry its bold road presence.
Inside the cabin, Mahindra is expected to offer several premium features with the XUV 7XO. One of the biggest upgrades could be a triple-screen dashboard setup, similar to what we’ve seen in the XUV.e9 concept. The SUV might also get ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, along with ottoman-style seats at the back for extra comfort.
Other expected additions include a digital key, self-parking assist, an upgraded Harman audio system with Dolby support, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. These changes will likely position the XUV 7XO as a more luxurious and tech-loaded offering in the segment.
Mechanically, the Mahindra XUV 700 facelift is likely to retain the same engine options as the current model. This means it will continue to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 197 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, along with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine delivering up to 182 bhp and 450 Nm. Both engines will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. While Mahindra is actively working on hybrid powertrains, these are not expected to be introduced with this facelifted version.
The current XUV700 was launched in August 2021 and has remained largely unchanged since then. Given the usual product lifecycle, the facelift – now likely called the XUV 7XO – is expected to arrive in 2026. This refresh will not only bring visual and feature upgrades but may also mark a new phase in Mahindra’s naming strategy. The trademarking of the 7XO name further supports this move.
