Mahindra has recently showcased 4 new concepts - the Vision X, Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT. Out of these four concepts, the Vision S concept based compact SUV will first launch in our market. Mahindra is testing an all-new SUV, which was speculated to be the next Bolero or new Bolero Neo. However, the latest spy shots suggest that it could be the production version of the Mahindra Vision S concept.
The new compact SUV will be based on Mahindra’s new NU.IQ modular platform. Mahindra confirms that its NU.IQ platform based SUVs will start arriving from 2027. This means that the new compact SUV is currently in early days of testing and won’t launch anytime soon. Mahindra could fast pace its development, and we expect the launch could take place in the second half of 2026. Also See - Mahindra Vision S First Look - Exterior and Interior Explained

The latest set of spy images suggest that the new Mahindra compact SUV has the same boxy stance as the Vision S concept. It has an upright stance, flat roof, squared-off wheel arches and squarish front and rear profile. In fact, most of the design elements appear identical to the concept.
The new Mahindra compact SUV gets a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which is also similar to that of the concept. The big change is the circular headlamp set-up in the front, and a new grille with vertical slats. The concept had triple vertically-stacked LED lights on either side of centrally mounted twin peaks logo. This lighting set-up work as a connecting bridge between the inverted L-shaped headlights. We believe that the electric version of the SUV could get this look, but the ICE model will have a more traditional SUV look.

At the back, the new Mahindra gets the vertically stacked tail-lamps which also has similarities with those available in the Vision S concept. Similar to the concept, the new Mahindra compact SUV has high ground clearance, black cladding all-around the body and muscular profile.
The cabin is not clearly visible in any of the spy images, but it is most likely to get a more modern cabin with similarities with the Vision S cabin. It is likely to get dual digital screens separated from each other by an AC vent. The SUV will come with physical buttons for several functions, including climate control operations. Other features could include automatic AC, leatherette upholstery for seats, steering and door trims, a panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, etc.

Details about the engine options are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be offered with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. The SUV could get the 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. Mahindra is also working on a new hybrid powertrain, which is likely to be based on a 1.2L turbo petrol engine.
