Mahindra Vision S previews brand's new compact SUV It will be based on the Mahindra NU.IQ modular platform The new model could be the smallest member of the Scorpio family It will launch in 2027
Mahindra recently showcased the Vision S concept on the Independence Day 2025. This compact SUV previews the brand’s next compact SUV, which is likely to rival the Kia Syros, Maruti Brezza and others in the category. However, we believe that this model will turn into a midsize SUV to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Mahindra currently has no product in the midsize SUV category, and the Vision S could very much fill this void. The S in the concept suggests that it could belong to the Scorpio family. And, the production model could be the smallest model in the Scorpio family that currently has Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic.

The Mahindra Vision S is based on the brand’s new NU.IQ modular platform, which is compatible with ICE, hybrid and EV powertrains. Moreover, the platform supports both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive set-up. This architecture will support vehicles measuring between 3,990mm and 4,320mm, and the Vision S could be a 4-4.3 meters long compact SUV.

Like the existing Scorpio-N, the Mahindra Vision S has a boxy design complemented by rugged styling elements. There is a squarish front profile, dominated by big black cladding on the lower bumper and uniquely styled lighting set-up, which I feel could have been styled in a better way.
The SUV gets a triple vertically-stacked LED lights on either side of centrally mounted twin peaks logo. This lighting set-up work as a connecting bridge between the inverted L-shaped headlights. The lower bumper has aggressive appearance, thanks to silver pronounced and oversized body panel and broad cladding that runs across the length and width of the car. The bumper houses a radar for ADAS and parking sensors. There are pixel-shaped LED fog lamps on either side of the bumper.
The concept has limb riders on the bonnet and roof-mounted lights, which won’t make to the final production model. Moreover, the styling of the lower bumper and headlamp set-up will witness significant changes before entering the production cycle.

The side profile presents its boxy design with flatter roof, rectangular-shaped glass areas, flat lines and pronounced rear quarter area. Also the side design reflects its off-road characteristics, featuring high stance, thick cladding under the doors, squared-off wheel arches with thick cladding.
There are star-shaped wheels wrapped with 19-inch off-road tyres, and it also has red callipers and disc brakes. The Vision S concept has a roof ladder on the kerb side and a jerry can on the right, which again won’t make to the final model. There are cameras instead of traditional ORVMs; however, the production-ready model will have physical wing mirrors. The concept gets side steps, and flush-fitting door handles.

The rear also carries the squarish shape, featuring a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and strong black cladding. There is a strong black bar that merges with tailgate and went upward to offer a strong look. It has inverted L-shaped tail-lights, and a massive lower bumper housing a grey colour skid plate, and pixel-shaped lights on either sides.

Mahindra shared the digital images of the Vision S cabin, which shows new interior design direction. It comes with dual digital screens separated from each other by an AC vent. The screens appear to be 12-inch units, and the infotainment unit will run on a new Operating System with new interface.
The good part is that Mahindra has retained the physical buttons for multiple functions for the centre console. It will have a climate control interface. The concept gets a three-spoke round steering wheel with haptic controls for the steering mounted functions. As a reminder, the XEV 9e and BE 6 comes with a square unit for the steering wheel. The Mahindra Vision S has a glass roof with built-in lighting.
The new Mahindra Vision S will be equipped with a strong hybrid engine, which is currently under development. Mahindra could utilise the 1.2L turbo petrol engine to develop a new hybrid system. Other engine choices could include a 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel unit.
