Mahindra is all set to expand its SUV portfolio with two new electric SUVs and facelifts for the XUV700 and Thar, all expected to arrive by March 2026. These upcoming models are part of the brand’s broader strategy to stay competitive in both the electric and traditional SUV segments.

The first confirmed model in Mahindra’s EV lineup is the XEV 7e, the electric version of the bestselling XUV700. Based on the INGLO platform, this new electric SUV will share several components and design cues with the recently unveiled XEV 9e, but with a focus on practicality. While the XEV 9e is a sportier SUV Coupe, the XEV 7e will offer a 7-seat layout aimed at families.
Positioned above the XEV 9e in Mahindra’s electric lineup, the new XEV 7e is expected to carry a premium of around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh over the XEV 9e, which currently starts at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the XEV 7e a premium alternative for buyers seeking space and electric power in a single package.
The XEV 7e is also likely to offer dual battery pack options, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and premium interior features like triple-screen displays and a Harman Kardon audio system. A dual-motor AWD variant is also expected, with a claimed driving range of up to 500km.
While Mahindra hasn’t officially confirmed the identity of its second EV launch by March 2026, speculation is strong around a few candidates. One possibility is the XUV 3XO EV, which has been spotted on test in recent months. Another could be one of the four new EV concepts – Vision S, Vision T, Vision SX, and Vision SXT – which the company plans to unveil on August 15, 2025.
Additionally, Mahindra has confirmed the launch of the new-gen Bolero and Bolero EV for 2026. If timelines align, the Bolero EV could be the second electric SUV hitting the market in Q1 2026.
Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the XUV700, is also getting a facelift expected to debut in early 2026. The refreshed version will bring visual updates, interior enhancements, and tech upgrades, while retaining the core engine lineup.
On the outside, the facelift will feature redesigned headlamps, a new grille, updated bumpers, and revised tail lamps. Fresh alloy wheel designs are also expected. Inside, the cabin will get a more premium feel with a triple-screen setup, likely including a digital instrument cluster, infotainment screen, and a passenger-side display.
Additional updates may include new seat upholstery, ventilated second-row captain seats, rear sun blinds, and an upgraded ADAS suite. Under the hood, Mahindra is likely to retain the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines, paired with manual and automatic gearboxes. An AWD option will continue to be part of the range.
The iconic 3-door Mahindra Thar is also set to get a facelift by early 2026, with updates inspired by the Thar Roxx edition. Spy shots reveal design tweaks such as a bolder grille, updated LED headlamps, and new alloy wheels. Minor changes at the rear are also expected.
Inside, the updated Thar will aim for a more feature-rich experience. The dashboard may get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and new premium touches. Push-button start, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera could be offered on higher variants.
The Thar facelift will retain its current engine options – 2.2L diesel, 2.0L turbo petrol, and the 1.5L diesel – along with both manual and automatic transmissions. Mahindra is also expected to add Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.
With these additions, the Thar facelift will become a more well-rounded competitor to models like the Force Gurkha, Maruti Jimny, and even Mahindra’s own Thar Roxx. The price is expected to see a small hike over the current range of Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 17.62 lakh (ex-showroom).
