Maruti Suzuki India Limited has started commercial production at its newly developed Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid foundation stone of this plant in August 2022. Maruti Brezza is the first product produced at this manufacturing plant.
The new Maruti Suzuki's Kharkhoda manufacturing facility will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units. With this facility, MSIL total annual production capacity will rise to 2.6 million units in India.
The next big product to be produced at the new Maruti Suzuki facility will be the long-awaited 7-seater SUV that has been caught testing on the Indian roads. The new SUV will be the 3-row version of the Grand Vitara. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus.
The SUV is reportedly to be launched in the second half of 2025 and the production is likely to begin in mid this year. It will be the brand's new SUV to be offered with multiple engine options including a mild-hybrid petrol, CNG and strong petrol hybrid engine.
The new Maruti 7-Seater SUV will share the engine options with the Grand Vitara. The engine options are a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol with Suzuki's mild-hybrid tech, a Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre TNGA engine and a 1.5-litre petrol with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
