Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have planned to bring three all-new hybrid models in the country by 2025, including a facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, a 7-seater Grand Vitara from Toyota, as well as a 7-seater Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Hence, the hybrid that is going to be newly developed would offer impeccable mileage with all the advanced security features along with enormous space to seat a good number of passengers at one go. Hybrid variants, no doubt, would be very much in demand as environment-friendly cars in India.
Maruti Suzuki's famous compact SUV, Fronx, is to be upgraded, and it will pack within itself Maruti's brand new hybrid engine. Its HEV promises fuel efficiency is expected to be above 35 km per litre. Fronx has the option of a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine accompanied by a smaller battery and electric motor. This latest design enables the engine to refill the battery during run times, giving the car an exceptionally smooth hybrid ride. It will power the new models like the next-generation Brezza, Swift Hybrid, and Baleno too.
Safety will always be at the top of the Fronx facelift that's going to arrive packed with ADAS features, a first for Maruti on this technology. The basic pack of Level 1 ADAS is going to keep appearing with the Fronx, although features like Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning will remain a part of its feature list. All the features will provide comfortability and safety in traveling, and then Fronx was going to emerge as a car, which was going to be ideal for commuting through the cities.
The Grand Vitara 7-seater model, to come in 2025, will take more people to the desired destinations safely because the variant will offer more space than the previous model that used hybrid technology. It is developed on the Global C platform and thus boasts a rich safety badge. In its tradition, Maruti Suzuki takes care of continuity with a new edition of the same. It will be arriving with mild and strong hybrid editions and will more likely come with stronger power in its flagship with a new improved hybrid variant.
ADAS might feature on Maruti's Grand Vitara as a part of efforts for safer handling as practiced the world over. The seven-seater car will likely have both manual as well as automatic transmission options as its market variants.
This newly designed Toyota 7-seater, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, is built on the Grand Vitara platform that will be manufactured at the upcoming Kharkhoda plant in Haryana to be made by Maruti Suzuki. This model will go into the production line in 2025 as it is designed for accommodating an extended wheelbase with a third row of seating, thus making it a 5+2 seater for families. Hyryder will have two powertrain options: the first is a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid unit, and the second is a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle strong-hybrid unit, offering a fair balance between power and fuel efficiency.
The 7-seater Hyryder will see the surface of a sharp front chrome grille bearing the signature mark of Toyota, more prominent and angular LED headlights, and a robustly designed bonnet. It is believed that the side profile flaunts larger wheels and extended rear doors, revealing much space, and its rear will flaunt redesigned tail lamps and a new bumper. The model is expected to come with ADAS, which provides key safety aids to provide an utterly safe driving experience.
The Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Hyryder are a joint effort by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota to lead the process of India's transition into hybrid vehicles and, as such, aim at fuel efficiency, safety, and space. This lineup is expected to consolidate both brands as prime in India's growing hybrid sector.
