Maruti Suzuki is slated to launch the Jimny in India next month. Arguably the most awaited new car launch of 2023, the brand has already started accepting bookings for the 5-door lifestyle SUV. In the past, the brand had shared loads of details about the upcoming vehicle at the time of the Delhi Auto Expo. Now that the off-roader is all set to be launched, the automaker has announced its fuel economy figures. We take an in-depth look.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Mileage Figures
According to the manufacturer, the New Jimny 5-door manual variants will offer an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.94 kmpl while the automatic trims will deliver 16.39 kmpl. This means that the SUV, with its 40-litre fuel tank, will have a range of 678 km for the manual trims and 656 km for the automatic variants.
Powering the Maruti Jimny is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine producing 105 bhp with 135 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options would include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Price in India and Rivals
As mentioned, Maruti Suzuki had started accepting bookings for the Jimny with a token amount of Rs 25,000. The automaker has stated that it has already garnered nearly 30,000 bookings. Waiting periods at launch will be around 6 months for the manual variants and 8 months for the automatic trims.
As far as the price goes, we expect it to be in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). When introduced, the SUV will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar 5-door and the Force Gurka.
