Maruti YMC 7-Seat Electric MPV Launch This Fiscal Year; Design Details Out

Maruti YMC 7-seat electric MPV launch expected by March 2027 Based on e Vitara's platform To rival Kia Carens Clavis EV

We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki is adopting multi-powertrain strategy to drive sales in the Indian car market.  The company is preparing two all-new products, a new 7-seater electric MPV and a micro SUV with petrol and CNG fuel options. Adding to it, MSIL will introduce its first flex-fuel powered vehicle in the country this year. The big news is that the new Maruti electric MPV, codenamed YMC will be launched before the end of this financial year.

Testing of the new 7-seater electric MPV has already been started on the Indian roads. It will be Maruti Suzuki’s second EV offering, and will share the platform and battery packs with the e Vitara. The latest spy images reveals the size and stance of the e-MPV. The spotted model was heavily covered with thick cloth, but we can see the closed-off EV grille at the front, and uniquely styled lower bumper with air vents to cool the battery pack.

The YMC electric MPV will be based on Suzuki’s e HEARTECT, a skateboard platform that underpins the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It will come with aero-optimised wheels, which seems identical to the ones offered on the eVitara. At the back, the vehicle will have connected tail-lamp setup, chunky bumper and a shark fin antenna. The rear seems significantly wider than the Ertiga, suggesting more space in the third-row.

The new YMC electric MPV is likely to measure around 4.5 meters in length. It is likely to be offered with 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain seats in the second row. It is likely to share most of its equipment with the e Vitara, including a large touchscreen infotainment unit, digital driver’s display, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents and others.

The YMC electric MPV is likely to be offered with the 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs. The eVitara with bigger battery is claimed to deliver a range of 543km on a single charge. The electric MPV will directly rival the Kia Carens Clavis EV, BYD e MAX 7 and VinFast VF MPV 7.
