German automaker Mercedes-Benz has reopened bookings for its flagship SUVs, the AMG G63 and GLS Maybach 600 in India. Currently, bookings are open for existing Mercedes owners only after which it will be offered to new customers.
Last year, increased demand for the flagship models led to a 2 year waiting period for customers.Seeing this rise in demand, the brand has sought additional units of the G63 and GLS Maybach. As a result, the waiting period for Mercedes-AMG G63 has now decreased to 18 months as compared to the earlier time of 3 years. In the case of Mercedes-Benz GLS Maybach 600, the waiting period has come down to 10 months for the single-tone and 8 months for dual-tone colours.
The G63 AMG is among the most powerful Mercedes-Benz cars you can currently buy in India. Under its hood lies a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol motor that churns out 577 bhp with 850 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is carried out by a SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G automatic gearbox.
As for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, it also comes powered by the same 4-litre V8 turbo-petrol engine delivering different power outputs. The unit produces 550 bhp and 730 Nm of peak torque. The power plant comes mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Mercedes-AMG G63 recently received a price hike in the country. Its new price stands at Rs 2.7 crore (ex-showroom) as compared to the earlier amount of Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS 600 is priced at Rs 2.92 crore (ex-showroom).
