MG Starlight 560 PHEV by March 2027 MG iM6 will be sold through SELECT dealerships Majestor full-size SUV arriving soon
JSW MG Motor India is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. Buoyed by the excellent response for the Windsor EV, the company is prepping a three-pronged SUV offensive for 2026-27. The brand’s upcoming SUV line-up comprising the Starlight 560, Majestor and iM6 - offering plug-in hybrid tech to luxury off-roaders and high-end electrics.

The new MG Majestor will be successor to the Gloster. It is based on a traditional, ladder-frame SUV, and will directly rival the Toyota Fortuner. Powering the Majestor is a 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 215hp and 478Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV can be had with rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive layouts. The 4WD version offers 10 off-road modes, an 810mm water wading depth and triple differential locks.
It will be offered in 3 variants, Sharp RWD, Sharp 4WD and Savvy 4WD. Estimated to be priced around Rs 50 lakh, the Majestor gets a long list of comfort and convenience features. It comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a fully-digital driver’s display, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, and connected car tech. Other features include 12-way powered, ventilated and massaging front seats, 3-zone auto AC, dual wireless phone chargers, an air purifier, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated second-row seats, six airbags, ESC, TPMS, hill-hold assist, 360-degree camera and LEVEL 2 ADAS.

JSW MG Motor India will enter the plug-in hybrid segment by March 2027, and its first PHEV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560. The company has filed a design patent for the Starlight 560 SUV. Interestingly, the company is considering both PHEV and all-electric derivative of the Starlight 560 for the Indian market. The SUV will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the XEV 9S.
The global-spec model is available in both 5 and 7-seat options. It is offered with three powertrain choices, including petrol, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric. The ICE powered model gets a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 177bhp. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. This version is not likely to arrive in our market. JSW MG could aim to introduce only the PHEV and EV versions of the SUV in a 7-seater avatar.
The PHEV gets a 106hp, 1.5L NA petrol engine, a 20.5kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The combined power and torque output stands at 197hp and 230Nm, respectively. It is claimed to offer an electric-only range of up to 100-125km (CLTC - China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) and a combined driving range of 1100km. The Chinese-spec model is offered with two battery choices, including a 54.2kWh and a 69.2kWh. While the former is claimed to offer a range of 450km, the bigger battery offers 540km on the CLTC.

It will be the next model to be sold through MG’s SELECT dealerships. Expected to be introduced by Diwali 2026, the MG iM6 will come as a CBU and will be positioned below the MG M9. The company had showcased the electric SUV at the 2025 Auto Expo. It is based on an 800V electric architecture, and is packed with a 100kWh battery pack. The electric SUV is available with both RWD and AWD setup.
The RWD version offers 408hp and 500Nm of torque, while the dual-motor AWD version delivers 778hp and 802Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3.4 seconds. The RWD version offers a WLTP range of 555km on a single charge, while the AWD version delivers 505km. This electric SUV will take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
