New Hyundai Sonata Revealed

South Korean automaker Hyundai recently released the first official images of the Sonata Facelift. The sedan features a comprehensive exterior and interior redesign update and now looks similar to the recently-launched Hyundai Verna in India. New Hyundai Sonata will be making its global debut on the 30th of March 2023 at the Seoul Mobility Show and will be sold in international markets only.

New Hyundai Sonata: Exterior Design

The upcoming Sonata looks strikingly different from the outgoing model. The front end features a split LED headlight setup and a full width LED light bar while the grille offers new angular extensions. The side profile remains largely unchanged, featuring a prominent shoulder line and a coupe-like roofline. Moving to the rear it provides a full width H-pattern LED light bar, full LED tail lights, and a spoiler shaped bootlid.

Meanwhile the sportier Hyundai Sonata N-Line further gets a proper boot lid spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, N-Line badging, quad exhaust setup, and contrasting black ORVMs.

New Hyundai Sonata: Interior Features

The interior of the premium sedan gets a major overhaul. The dashboard is now more oriented towards the driver with dual 12.3-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster. The display also houses the haptic switches for the climate control system. Other notable features include a three-spoke steering wheel, new drive controller stalk behind the steering, and an armrest that extends into the center console.

New Hyundai Sonata: Powertrain Details

The automaker has not released any information pertaining to the powertrain options, however these should be out at the time of its global debut. We expect them to be the same as the current generation model. These would include multiple petrol engines alongside plug-in hybrids. The top of the line N-Line model is currently powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 290 bhp with 422 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an 8-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
