Kia India has released the first teaser of the much-awaited new generation Carnival MPV, which is scheduled to be launched on October 3, 2024. Not just the new Kia Carnival, the Korean brand will also introduce its flagship EV9 3-row electric SUV in the country. As a reminder, both models were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo.
The new Kia Carnival MPV will come as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) model and will carry a high price tag. However, a local assembly is expected to begin at a later stage. The new Carnival is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom.
Interested customers can book the new Carnival MPV at select Kia dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh, which is refundable on cancellation. It is expected that the new 3-row MPV will come in a single fully loaded variant.
The global model is offered in 7-,9- and 11-seater options; however, Kia India is yet to reveal the seating options for the Carnival MPV. The new model will come as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross or the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. In terms of features, the 3-row MPV gets 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, automatic climate control, optional 14.6-inch rear entertainment screen, front & rear dash cameras, digital rearview mirror, head-up display, LED lighting system and Level 2 ADAS.
Powering the new-gen Kia Carnival is a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that also offers the previous model. This engine is capable of producing 200bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 440Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by an 8-speed 'Sportsmatic' automatic gearbox.
The International-spec model is available with 3 engine options - a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel.
