A stylish new version of Kia’s upcoming entry-level electric SUV, the Kia EV2, has been spotted testing near the Hyundai-Kia R&D Center in Namyang, South Korea. Spy shots reveal a coupe-style silhouette, signaling a sportier take on the compact electric crossover. The car was captured by auto outlet Shortscar, and it suggests Kia is exploring multiple body styles for the EV2 lineup.
What stands out immediately is the EV’s sloping coupe roofline, which gives it a more athletic and premium appearance. Unlike the upright shape of the standard EV2 prototypes seen earlier, this version looks closer to a fastback. It’s a design language similar to what we’ve seen on other modern EVs like the Volkswagen ID.5 and Renault Mégane E-Tech. The change hints at Kia targeting younger and style-focused buyers.
While Kia hasn’t confirmed specs for the coupe version, early expectations suggest a front-wheel-drive layout with a single motor. Battery capacity could range between 40 and 50 kWh, offering a WLTP range between 300 to 400 km. Kia may later offer a dual-motor AWD or GT-Line variant, depending on market demand and competition.
The standard Kia EV2 is set to debut in late 2025 or early 2026. Production will likely happen in Europe to benefit from EV subsidies and lower shipping costs. The newly spotted coupe-style version could be introduced shortly after, possibly as part of the 2026 model year.
