New Kia Seltos Hybrid Launch Pushed Back to 2027, Regular Model Arriving First

New-gen Kia Seltos to get hybrid engine in 2027 Regular model to arrive sometime in 2026 The global-spec model to launch in 2026 with strong hybrid engine

Kia officially announced to launch the second-generation Seltos with a strong hybrid engine in India as well as in global markets. Media reports stated that the hybrid version will arrive alongside the regular Seltos; however, Kia officials in India stated that the next-gen Seltos hybrid won’t arrive in 2026. The launch has been pushed back to 2027.

Not just Seltos, the next-gen Hyundai Creta will also receive a hybrid powertrain. The next Creta is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2027. The new-gen Seltos hybrid will rival the Maruti Victoris hybrid, Grand Vitara hybrid, Toyota Hyryder hybrid and the upcoming new Renault Duster and Honda Elevate hybrid/

The Korean media report claims that the next-gen Kia Seltos hybrid debut pushed back to April 2026 from January 2026. The current model is hugely popular and the second best-selling Kia globally, the Sorento is Kia’s best-seller in international markets.

The next-gen Seltos will have a different hybrid engine compared to the India-spec model. The international-spec model is expected to get a new 1.6-litre GDR hybrid powertrain with an e-AWD option. The e-AWD system has a rear-mounted electric motor to provide all-weather traction.

The India-spec hybrid powertrain is likely to be based on the existing 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine is likely to get an electric motor and a small battery pack.

Regular model arriving in 2026

It is expected that the new-gen Kia Seltos will arrive in our market in 2026. The SUV will have a boxy design with inspiration from Kia’s global SUV, Telluride. It will be offered with the existing engine choices, including the 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel.
