New Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been spotted testing a couple of times on Indian roads. The automaker is finally preparing to launch the subcompact sedan for the Indian market. While the new-gen Swift is scheduled to launch on May 9, the updated Dzire will make its entry by the festive season - around August-September 2024. The all-new Dzire will receive an updated exterior and an all-new interior along with a new powertrain option.
Built on the modified HEARTECT platform, the upcoming subcompact sedan will retain its overall silhouette. However, there will be significant design changes to give it a refreshed look.
The updated model will highlight a new front fascia including a new grille, bumper, LED headlamp clusters, and a broader bonnet along with repositioned fog lamps. The side profile of the revamped Dzire will largely remain unchanged, though it is expected to get all-new alloy wheels. To make it look different from its predecessor, Maruti Suzuki will add a new bumper, tailgate and tail-lamp to the rear.
The interior of the updated Dzire will be inspired by Baleno and Fronx. Some of the features include a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, 360-degree camera, and revised dashboard, centre console with fronx-like AC control. Segment-first factory-fitted sunroof will also be offered with the new Dzire.
The New Dzire will be powered by the same engine options as the new Swift. The upcoming subcompact sedan will come equipped with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series naturally aspirated petrol engine. It can produce a maximum power of 82 bhp with 108 Nm of peak torque. The mild hybrid version comes with a DC synchronous motor, which offers an additional 3.1bhp and 60Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by both manual and AMT gearboxes. Similar to the global-spec Swift, the new Swift and Dzire could also receive a CVT gearbox.
Slated to be launched by this festive season, the new Dzire is likely to be priced a little higher than the current model. The existing model is priced between Rs 6.57 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the new model to cost somewhere between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10.5 lakh. As for the rivals, the 2024 Dzire will take on the likes of Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze in the segment.
