New Maruti Suzuki Swift is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market on May 9, 2024. Ahead of its official launch, the automaker has started accepting pre-orders for the hatchback. Interested customers can book the new Swift online or at the authorised dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. Recent media reports suggest that the new-gen model will offer more safety features and improved mileage than the outgoing Swift.
Maruti was offering two front airbags on the old Swift model while for the next-gen model, the automaker is likely to boost safety by providing six airbags as standard.
Apart from safety, the 2024 Swift is expected to offer improved fuel efficiency. Equipped with the all-new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder mild hybrid petrol engine, the vehicle can produce 81 bhp of power with 112 Nm of torque. It is said that the mileage of the new Swift will stand at 25.72 kmpl with the mild hybrid petrol unit.
Compared to its predecessor which has a claimed mileage of 22.56 kmpl for automatic and 22.38 kmpl for manual, the updated model will make a difference of 3.16 kmpl for automatic and 3.34 kmpl for manual transmission.
New Maruti Swift is expected to come with a host of features including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Arkamys sound system, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, push-button start-stop, and a semi-digital instrument console.
Price for the 2024 Swift will get a hike over its outgoing model which is priced at Rs 6.24 lakh to 9.28 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Tata Tiago.
