MG Astor is coming with a new hybrid engine It will offer an all-new design and features India launch is expected next year
MG has been working on the new-gen Astor for a long time. First, it will debut in Australia on August 26, 2024, followed by the India launch in 2025. It should be noted that in select markets, the Astor SUV is sold as the ZS SUV. The test mule of the new Astor has also been spied earlier, hinting at its new design elements and tech features. The biggest highlight would be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain.
The new MG Astor will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid engine which also powers the MG3 Hybrid+. It will have a front-wheel drive system and a 3-speed automatic gearbox.
The updated MG Astor will use a new design language by MG which we have also seen in the new MG HS and MG3. It will feature an all-new front fascia with a new grille and LED headlights. Other features might include a new bumper, air intake, updated tail lights, new alloy wheels, and a revamped rear bumper.
In terms of features, the new Astor Hybrid will come equipped with a dual-screen setup for infotainment and an instrument panel. Other noteworthy features will include wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, power-adjustable front seats, keyless access and a start system. An ADAS suite will also be updated with new features.
MG has scheduled the launch of the new Astor for August 2024. It will be launched in Europe first. Since it will be available with a new design, features, and a hybrid powertrain, we can expect it to be priced a bit higher. The current petrol version is priced at €17,890 (Rs 16.61 lakh). For the hybrid mode, we can expect the price somewhere at €25,000 (Rs 23.20 lakh). India launch of the new Astor hybrid is expected in 2025. As for the rivals, it will compete with Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
