Hyundai is currently working on the Next-Gen Santa Fe. While official details are yet to be revealed, the next-gen model is going to be more upmarket inside out than the outgoing version. Now, the latest leaked images provide insights into the upcoming premium SUV. We dig deeper to know more.
The current-generation Hyundai Santa Fe features a curvy design with soft and rounded edges. Compared to this, the next-gen model will have a more old-school design with squared-off edges and a flat upright front end. It will feature the brand’s new H-motif on the LED DRL, grille, and front air dam. The bonnet appears to be flat and looks like a clamshell unit. Moving to the sides, the full-grown SUV will offer new angular wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars for a floating roof effect, and a slightly sloping roofline. Towards the rear, it will provide a full-width LED light bar and taillights that are positioned quite low alongside a chunky-looking bumper. Plus the four-wheeler will get rugged-looking black body cladding all around.
Like its exterior, the latest leaked images provide insight into its interior. The design of the dashboard and the steering wheel seem to have been inspired by New Land Rover SUVs. There is a dual-screen setup for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, with full-width AC vents positioned just below the former. Its Climate Control functions are operated by a separate screen positioned on the centre console. The spy shots also reveal that the cabin of the four-wheeler looks more premium than the current model and will use a lot of soft-touch materials.
While it is yet to be confirmed, the premium SUV is expected to be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
The South Korean automaker had previously launched the Second and Third-Gen Santa Fe in India. However, even though it was a strong offering the SUV did not manage to garner many sales for the company.
In our country, Tucson is Hyundai’s current flagship SUV which was launched last year. While the New Santa Fe with its rugged styling could make it a viable alternative to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster, it remains to be seen if the brand will bring it to our shores.
