Nissan had revealed its plans to introduce two brand new models - a new C-segment SUV and a 7-seater derivative in the Indian market in 2026. The new Nissan 5-seater C-segment SUV has been spotted testing for the first time on the Indian roads. The new midsize SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and the upcoming Maruti SUV.
The new Nissan midsize SUV is scheduled to be launched in the country by mid-2026. It is based on the same Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B platform that underpins the third-generation Duster, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2026.

During the official announcement last year, Nissan had released the teaser images of the upcoming midsize SUV and the new 7-seater MPV. The spotted model was heavily camouflaged; however, the overall silhouette closely resembles the official teaser.
The SUV’s design is inspired by the Nissan’s globally popular Patrol full-size SUV, featuring rugged squarish design and upright stance. It comes with flared wheel arches, 5-spoke alloy wheels and a sculpted bonnet. The SUV has a flatter roof with usable roof rails, and black plastic cladding all-around the body.
The front fascia has a prominent grille with a central Nissan logo, and C-shaped elements in the bumper. It is likely to get LED headlamps with connected daytime running lamps. The rear has a sculpted tailgate, and a rectangular shaped tail-lights which could get connected light bar. Other design highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna and an aggressive lower bumper.
The interior details of the new Nissan SUV are yet to be revealed. We expect the new model to share the features with the new Duster, but the cabin layout and interior scheme with be in-sync with Nissan’s global design language. It is likely to get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats and powered driver’s seat.
For safety and security, the new Nissan C-segment SUV will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, and many more. The SUV will also come with LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others. However, the spotted model has no RADAR sensors for the ADAS. This could be the lower-spec variant.
The new Nissan mid-size SUV is likely to share the engine options with the upcoming Renault Duster. It is expected to be powered by a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine with manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox options. The company could also add the new 1.5L NA petrol and 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines to the SUV line-up. The SUV could also get a hybrid powertrain at a later stage.
