Nissan India has started testing the production version of the upcoming Tekton mid-size SUV ahead of its official reveal in early 2026. The Nissan Tekton will be manufactured in India for both domestic and export markets. Here are the five key facts you need to know about the new Nissan SUV.

Nissan has confirmed that the production version of the Tekton mid-size SUV will be fully revealed by April 2026. The SUV could be launched by mid-2026, most probably around June-July 2026.

The new Tekton SUV will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, which also underpins the next-gen Renault Duster. It will initially come with a petrol engine only. The SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces up to 154PS and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic.
Nissan could opt for a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine to power the lower-spec variants of the Tekton. The engine could be tuned for a slightly higher power and torque output. Nissan is also considering a hybrid version of the Tekton, which is likely to arrive sometime in 2027.
The new Nissan mid-sized SUV is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. The SUV will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris and Tata Sierra.
The new Nissan Tekton teaser images confirm that the SUV’s design is inspired by the company’s iconic SUV, the Patrol. The front appears looks similar to the Patrol, featuring a sculpted bonnet and distinctive C-shaped headlamp signature. There is a wider signature grille with two chrome lines running across the width, and Nissan badge in the centre. A connected LED bar runs across the width, while the lower bumper has strong cladding.
The silhouette shows a boxy design, featuring a flatter roof with usable roof rails, and horizontal lines on the bonnet. There are smoother surfaces with less creases and curves on the side body panels, while the flared wheel arches offer a commanding road presence. A ‘Double-C’ shaped accent, incorporating a mountain range motif inspired by the Himalayas, are placed on the front doors on the Nissan Tekton.
The rear also gets the C-shaped LED tail-lamps connected by a red illuminated lighter. The SUV has a strong lower bumper, while the tailgate houses the TEKTON lettering.
Nissan has only revealed a single teaser image of the Tekton, which confirms a triple-tone finish. The SUV is most likely to share the comfort and convenience features with the new-gen Renault Duster. The dashboard has soft-touch materials, a copper-coloured strip and gloss black finish.
There will be a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other features could include a digital instrument console, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL-2 ADAS, and rear AC vents. For the safety and security, the SUV will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESC, hill launch and descent control, 360-degree surround view and 3-point seat belt reminders.
