Nissan has been planning to bring the X-Trail SUV back to the Indian market. The SUV was sold in the country in its first and second-generation models. The third-generation X-Trail was also showcased a few years back in India. Since 2021, the Nissan X-Trail in its fourth generation has been on sale in the international market. In fact, the model has been spotted testing in India, hinting at its arrival in the Indian market.
It is said that the Nissan X-Trail will be brought to India via the Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU route) in the coming months, near July. Speculations suggest it will be offered in limited units and only with a petrol engine.
The upcoming X-Trail will be a seven-seater SUV. It is expected to offer a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 201 bhp and 305 Nm internationally. For the India-spec model, the CVT gearbox could be on offer. However, the availability of 2WD or AWD is still not confirmed yet.
Expect the new X-Trail to be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival Skoda Kodiaq.
Apart from this, Nissan had showcased the Qashqai and Juke together in 2022. These models are also likely to arrive in the Indian market.
