Renault to launch Duster hybrid by Diwali 2026 Bridger compact SUV arriving in 2027

Buoyed by positive response for new Duster, Renault is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian car market. The company has officially announced its most ambitious roadmap yet, confirming that the Duster not just returned - it is also bringing a high-tech hybrid tech and an all-new Bridger compact SUV.

From the rugged Bridger Concept to the Duster’s new Strong Hybrid tech, here is the full breakdown of Renault’s strategy to reclaim the Indian SUV market.

Renault Duster Hybrid: The Festive Season Blockbuster

While the petrol version of the all-new Renault Duster is already on sale in our market, the real game-changer will arrive by October 2026. The company will launch the Duster hybrid in the country this Diwali, festive season.

The Powertrain: The hybrid version will be equipped with a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively. It is set to be the most powerful hybrid vehicle in its category.

Mileage & Range: the new Duster hybrid will target a fuel efficiency of around 24-26kmpl. It is designed to offer a “diesel-beating” range of nearly 1,000 km on a single tank.

Estimated Price: the new hybrid SUV is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 19 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom.

Renault Bridger: The “MINI Duster”

Unveiled as a concept in March 2026, the Renault Bridger concept previews the brand’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV. The new sub-4 meter SUV is designed to bridge the gap between the Kiger and the Duster.

Launch Timeline: The new Bridger will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai facility for both domestic and export markets. While the exact India launch timeline has not yet been announced, the model is expected to hit showrooms by late 2027.

New Turbo petrol engine: the production-ready Bridger will be offered with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. This is likely to be a 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a power and torque output of around 114bhp and 190Nm, respectively.

Hybrid & Electric Options: Renault will also introduce a strong hybrid version of the SUV at a later stage. Adding to it, the Bridger will be offered with an electric powertrain. The EV could feature a battery pack of around 40kWh with an estimated range of around 500km on a full charge.

Estimated Price: the new Bridger will be positioned between the Kiger and Duster. We expect the new compact SUV to cost somewhere around Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom.
